One of the stadia selected for UAE T20x is the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. It is regarded as one of the best in the emirate. The stadium has been in existence since 1982. This stadium can compare with some of its contemporaries in the UAE such as Abu Dhabi stadium, and Dubai stadium.
The stadium is highly reputable as it holds the record as far as hosting of ODIs is concerned. It has so far hosted at least 228 of such competitions. There are lots of renovations in the stadium and this makes it better than what it was when it was constructed in the 1982. When it comes to the game of cricket, this stadium has hosted several local cricketing events. There was a time this stadium served as the home for the Afghanistan team.
In the past, this stadium has hosted important cricket events. One of such critical events includes being the hosting ground for the inaugural edition of T10 cricket league. This event, which took place in 2017, also featured great players. Apart from that sometime this year, this stadium played host to 2018 Blind Cricket world cup. This event features two neighboring countries, which include Pakistan and India.
The stadium was also involved in Test matches and it is one of the few cricket’s stadiums in the country that was involved in such a test. It is not surprising that this stadium was selected as one of the venues for this competition.
